Drive your own Dog Team!
Overnight Adventures

One Night/Two Days

Day 1: Nature's Kennel, 9 am
Enjoy a hearty breakfast with us as you get ready to drive your own dog team. In the morning, you'll receive all the instruction necessary to take a practice run on a 3 mile loop.  After our practice and lunch together, we'll pack our gear and get ready for the afternoon's adventure into the wilderness.  We'll leave the kennel around 2 pm, travel by dog team approximately 20 miles, arrive at camp, care for the dogs, have dinner (provided), and enjoy the night in the woods around the camp fire. Our tents are heated with wood stoves and have bunks for sleeping.

Day 2:  Wake up somewhere in the U.P.!
Breakfast at 8 am (provided) cooked by our guides.  You'll have plenty of time to pack your gear, wake and feed the dogs, pack your sled, and make the 20 mile trek home.  You will arrive back at Nature's Kennel at approximately 1 pm.

WEEKEND DATES: $450 per person.
MID-WEEK DATES: $400 per person.

Cost includes one night lodging, all meals, instruction, and dog team. A 10% discount is given if you book as a group of 4 or more.

Meet our 2007-2008 Winter Guides!!

Availability for 2007-2008:

Available space is noted next to each date, dates crossed off are full. Children should be 12 years or older to drive their own sled.  We suggest that younger children try a mini-drive or shorter ride.

If you can't get in this season, we'd love to see you next winter...our 2008-2009 Schedule will be available June 1st!  If you'd like to be on the mailing list to receive this schedule, send and email and we'll get you on the list!

March 2008:  4-5 (available for 2), 11-12 (available for 4), 15-16 (available for 4), 18-19 (available for 2), 22-23 (available for 2), 25-26 (available for 3)

What do you need to bring?
#1.  A positive attitude and sense of adventure.
#2.  Winter Camping Gear:
        sleeping bag
heavy winter jacket and snow pants
        warm boots
3 pairs wool or synthetic socks
        extra warm mittens
glove liners (2 or 3 pairs)
        long underwear (tops and bottoms)
warm fleece hat and neck warmer
**Plan to dress much warmer than you usually do for winter activities. It is very chilly on the sled since you constantly feel a breeze.  If you have any questions about gear, just ask.  We do have extra warm parkas, snowpants, boots, and sleeping bags that are available for rent.  We take guest's bags to camp via snowmobile, so space is not limited in regards to the size of bag you can bring.

#3:  Optional Items
        hand warmers
        camera
        water bottle or thermos
flashlight or headlamp (we will provide extras)
        sunglasses
        ski goggles

The fine print: Reservations must be made at least three weeks in advance.  1/2 of the cost of the trip must be paid to hold the reservation(s)--this may be by check made to Nature's Kennel or via PayPal.  The remainder of the balance must be paid at the end of the trip.  If trip is canceled due to weather conditions, a full refund will be issued.  If trip is canceled less than three weeks prior to trip date due to participant request, the down payment will not be refunded.
