"Nature" Kennel Owner and Operator
Ed and I began mushing
dogs
together about 7 years ago in Ludington, Michigan. For the past 4
years,
we lived and trained our dogs in Duluth, Minnesota. Both Ed and I
had been working full time in addition to running our kennel, Ed as a
production
supervisor and myself as a 1st grade teacher. We made the
decision
to quit our full time jobs in order to pursue our passion--sled
dogs.
Due to 4 years of poor snow conditions in Minnesota and limited trail
acces
from our home, we moved our kennel to McMillan in the Upper Peninsula
of
Michigan. By having a full time commitment to our kennel, we were
able to build our racing team and our business. After our first
year of full time racing and touring, we accomplished what no other
team ever has; completeing three of the longest distances races in the
same year: The Iditaord, the UP 200 and the John Beargrease Sled
Dog Marathon. In addition, over 200 people visited our
kennel this past year to learn to drive a dog sled or take a
ride. Life is such an adventure! |
