Art with Anne and Dog Sledding with Nature's Kennel

Nature’s Kennel and Artist Anne Clayton have teamed up to offer a fantastic winter adventure and art getaway!

 

The dog sledding portion of the trip includes a 10-mile adventure with Nature’s Kennel Sled Dog Adventures in McMillan, where you will be able to drive your own dog team. The hands-on sled dog painting class is led by Anne Clayton, a teacher and artist from Sault Ste. Marie, MI.  Anne’s “Sip and Dip” classes are very popular and this one promises to make anyone into an artist!  Join us for a fun weekend getaway.

 

Trip Itinerary:

 

Friday, January 13th

 

Anytime after 4 pm - Check in at Chamberlin’s Old Forest Inn in Curtis, Michigan.

 

Saturday, January 14th

 

7:30 am - Breakfast at Chamberlin’s Old Forest Inn

 

9 am-noon - Dog sledding at Nature’s Kennel. 

You will meet our Nature’s Kennel winter guides who will give you all the instruction necessary to mush your own team on our scenic ten mile trail.  Or, if you prefer, you can ride in the sled with your guide.  Please let Tasha know your preference for participating as a rider or driver when you make your reservation.

 

1 pm - Lunch at Chamberlin’s Old Forest Inn

 

2-5 pm - Art with Anne painting course (and some tasty treats and wine to go along with your hard work) Anne will take you step by step into her world of art where you will learn to paint the gorgeous winter dog sledding scene pictured above.  You can also add your own personal touches to your painting.  Your friends will be amazed at the artwork you will return home with!

 

6 pm - Dinner at Chamberlin’s Old Forest Inn

 

Sunday, January 15th

 

Breakfast and departure on your own. 

 

 

Trip Details

What is included: Two nights of lodging at Chamberlin’s Old Forest Inn in Curtis, MI. Chamberlin’s is nestled high on a bluff overlooking Big Manistique Lake in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.  This incredible lakeside country inn offers charming accommodations and casual fine dining. Rich in history, this gracious 7500 square ft., 19th century-style lakeside dwelling was built by a railroad company to serve as a passenger hotel near the Curtis train station.  More than one hundred years later the inn continues to embrace travelers with warmth, comfortable lodging, and stunning views.

Included meals are full breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday, lunch on Saturday  and dinner on Saturday night.   

 

Cost:  $555 per person, single occupancy or $485 per person, double occupancy. If you wish to participate but do NOT need lodging, the cost is $320 for dog sledding, Art with Anne, lunch and dinner at Chamberlin’s.  Please note trip is limited to 12 participants. Gratuities included.

 

Payment: A 50% deposit is required at the time of reservation.  The balance of the trip is due on January 13th when you come for your adventure.  Payment may be made via all major credit cards or personal check. 

 

Cancellation policy: In the unlikely event the trip is canceled due to weather conditions, a full refund will be issued. If participant(s) request a cancellation, the deposit will be refunded if request is made by January 3rd.
