Nature’s Kennel, located near McMillan (Newberry) Michigan, is truly a one of kind, highly successful, turn-key business opportunity.  Ed and Tasha Stielstra have built the business from the ground up to what it is today; the largest and most successful dog sledding operation in the Midwest.  Nature’s Kennel has been in operation at its current location for over twenty years and has a reputation of outstanding dog care and customer service.  Ed and Tasha have been involved with mushing for over twenty-five years and the legacy of the kennel includes multiple Iditarod finishes, humanitarian awards for dog care and UP 200 championships.  Over 1800 guests come from around the world each winter to get the chance to experience dog sledding for themselves, learn about these incredible canines, and to have the opportunity to drive a dog team.  Seven full time seasonal guides assist in the operation of the business providing day trips and overnight adventures. 

Nature’s Kennel is located on a total of 50 wooded acres on a plowed road.  It includes a large, well organized dog yard, several large pens, residence/guest staging area, staff/guide cabin, several small outbuildings, well, septic, solar panels and generator.  There is deeded access to state land and an existing trail system that is ideal for business operation and dog training.  The property used for overnight dog sledding trips, “Musher’s Village”, is located on an additional 15 acres, also on a plowed road, and is included in the sale.  All the equipment needed to run sled dog tours is included (see list below).  Nature’s Kennel currently operates with approximately 160 Alaskan Huskies. These dogs are the backbone of the business and are well bred, cared for, socialized and loved.  


The business has continually grown year after year and has a solid client base. Tours/available bookings are sold out each season.  The location is also perfect for winter snow and trail condtions. There is excellent snow for trips to run from mid-December through March.  

The business currently being operated "as usual"; dogs are being cared for and trained, improvements are being made, reservations are being taken and staff is employed.  Sale would include all bookings and owners are willing to stay on for three to nine months to assist with training and ownership transition.
